Career Change Retraining as a Railway Tamping Machine Operator

DB Bahnbau Gruppe GmbH is seeking career changers to start a twelve-month retraining course in operating large rail-mounted construction machines as soon as possible. Training combines theory and practical learning. Afterwards, you will work as a machine operator at changing construction sites across Germany.

• Complete a shortened training course in operating large rail-mounted construction machines, then work as a machine operator
• Gain practical and theoretical knowledge during retraining
• Complete a total training period of 12 months
• Independently drive and operate tamping machines, high-speed ballast regulators, dynamic track stabilisers and track measuring vehicles
• Independently help maintain the machines and carry out repairs as needed
• Take responsibility for moving machines between construction sites
• Work with colleagues at changing construction sites across Germany on travelling assignments

• Completed vocational training in a technical trade, for example as a construction equipment operator, metalworker, civil engineering worker, bricklayer, mechatronics technician or electrician, ideally with experience as a machine operator
• A valid category B driving licence is required
• Strong ability to cope with demanding work, flexibility and willingness to travel
• Teamwork, initiative, commitment and loyalty are among your strengths
• Willingness to work irregular hours, including frequent weekend and night shifts
