About this Apprenticeship
- Train traffic control is an indispensable part of rail transport. Here you ensure that our passengers reach their destination safely and on time. From 30 August 2027 we are looking for you for the 3-year apprenticeship as a railway worker in train traffic control (f/m/d) for DB InfraGO AG at the Berlin location. The vocational school is also located in Berlin at the U8 Osloer Straße. With the apprenticeship you become the coordinator of our trains. You don't sit in the train, but in a control centre (called "signal box"). We have countless of them throughout Germany. Via screens or panels you can observe the trains in your area and via buttons, keys and levers you can also influence the journey of the trains. Because at the push of a button you can set signals (traffic lights for trains) to green or red and also switch points so that trains can change tracks. Many other tasks make you the most important team member for the train drivers. You are constantly in contact and exchange information, e.g. about changes during the journey. When you apply, you can decide where you want to go after your apprenticeship. At the Berlin location you can choose between the following options: Long-distance operations centre: Your workplace is an electronic signal box (ESTW). Here you work with several colleagues in an open-plan office and control long-distance traffic (IC, ICE, EC up to freight traffic) via mouse click across several screens. On the signal boxes of the long-distance operations centre you operate track sections beyond the borders of Berlin and Brandenburg. S-Bahn operations centre: In the S-Bahn operations centre you also work on an electronic signal box in an open-plan office and ensure smooth and punctual rail operations of the Berlin S-Bahn together with your colleagues. The control of signals and points runs via PC and mouse. Network Berlin: Here you mainly work on the designs of electromechanical or push-button signal boxes (relay signal boxes) in and around Berlin. You are part of a small team and usually work alone on the signal box. You are close to the action and see the trains passing by. You get to know employees from various areas (e.g. LST, overhead lines, track) on site. What awaits you in your apprenticeship:

Requirements
- You have successfully completed (or will soon complete) school and your school leaving certificate is recognised in Germany
- Your German language skills correspond to at least B2 level
- Even in demanding situations you keep calm and maintain an overview
- You like to take responsibility and work with concentration
- Teamwork and reliability characterise you
- You are willing to work in shifts

- Attractive remuneration Depending on the apprenticeship year between 1,324 Euro and 1,531 Euro per month plus Christmas bonus. * Remuneration amounts are valid from 01.07.2026. The employment conditions apply to the vast majority of apprentices in the DB Group.
- Fixed contact persons We offer you a practice-oriented and future-oriented apprenticeship with fixed contact persons who accompany you on your way.
