Chemical Plant Operator

Chemical plant operator at Evonik Operations GmbH in Herne, operating and monitoring chemical production equipment, taking samples, keeping records, and carrying out cleaning and maintenance work on shifts.

• Start up, shut down, control and monitor production equipment and auxiliary systems using operating data
• Occasionally cover control room duties
• Load raw materials and products into equipment
• Package liquid waste
• Isolate pumps, pipes and equipment in preparation for repairs
• Take samples, evaluate analyses and record results
• Document operating and maintenance data
• Carry out cleaning and maintenance work
• Report and resolve faults, and implement and follow safety, environmental and occupational health requirements
• Brief employees of partner companies

• Completed vocational training as a chemical plant operator, chemical production or industrial specialist, or equivalent training
• Several years of experience in chemical production, operating equipment and handling hazardous substances
• Basic knowledge of production processes and process engineering, and basic MS Office skills
• Good spoken and written German and English
• Reliable team player with a strong sense of responsibility and safety, strong communication and teamwork skills, and flexibility
• Forklift licence required, ideally also a crane licence, and physical fitness meeting the G.26.3 occupational medical examination requirements for people wearing breathing apparatus
• Willingness to work shifts and serve in the plant's part-time fire brigade
