Digital Factory Expert - Focus on Digitalization and IT/OT Systems

For the department "Industrial Architecture and Innovation", we are looking for a Digital Factory Expert (f/m/d) focused on digitalization and IT/OT systems at our Ulm or Oberkochen site, starting as soon as possible.

• Develop and implement a future-oriented architecture for connected production (Industrial IoT) and derive the implementation roadmap
• Design system landscapes, integration concepts and interfaces
• Further develop the MES strategy incl. target vision, system harmonization between plants and definition of standard functionality
• Support the selection and evaluation of MES solutions and other IT/OT systems
• Responsibility for the systematic connection of machines, equipment and test devices to higher-level IT systems (MES/ERP/Cloud)
• Evaluate the current state of existing equipment, e.g. interfaces and communication protocols (e.g. OPC UA, MQTT), and derive recommendations
• Define standards for data transfer, security (cybersecurity in production) and data consistency within the manufacturing environment
• Help further develop the industrial target vision and evaluate new technologies in Industrial IoT, cloud/edge architectures and digitalization solutions
• Close collaboration with production, maintenance, IT and external partners to realize Industry 4.0 projects
• Support management in investment decisions for new manufacturing technologies considering their digitalization capability

• Successfully completed degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, computer science, automation technology, production engineering, electrical engineering or similar
• Several years of professional experience (about 5 years), ideally in digital factory / smart factory, MES implementation or consulting, IT/OT integration or industrial digitalization
• Very good knowledge of automation technology (PLC programming, sensors, actuators) and machine connectivity with protocols and standards (e.g. OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus, Profinet/EtherCAT)
• Sound expertise in Industry 4.0 concepts and digitalization solutions
• Knowledge of communication between the control level and the Manufacturing Execution System or the ERP system (SAP)
• Confident use of MS PowerPoint and Excel
• Strong structured and conceptual thinking
• Ability to explain complex IT/OT relationships clearly
• Strong communication skills and confident manner
• Teamwork in an interdisciplinary environment and high willingness to embrace change
• Very good German and English skills
