Cloud Platform Engineer

Conceptualization, setup, and further development of the self-hosted cloud platform (multi-cluster, no hyperscaler dependency, full control). Architecture and design of highly available Kubernetes clusters in the SUSE stack, including networking, storage, load balancing, and authentication. Design and further development of the tenant concept: isolated customer environments, responsibility for architecture and lifecycle. Coordination with development on performance and availability requirements for cluster and tenant concepts. Further development of the high-availability concept: a distributed in-memory approach across multiple nodes (swarm technology) ensuring real-time capability of applications in normal operation. GitOps workflows via ArgoCD and Fleet — fully automated from initial delivery to day-2 operations. Infrastructure as Code with Ansible, Terraform, or comparable tools; Policy as Code for security and governance. CI/CD integration and standardization of deployment processes. Platform engineering for internal teams: building self-service capabilities, defining standards, supporting onboarding. Active support for development teams in migrating their workloads to the cloud platform. Processing insights from ongoing operations (monitoring data, incidents) for continuous improvement of stability, security, and performance.

Several years of experience in cloud or platform engineering, container technologies, or infrastructure automation. Sound Kubernetes knowledge, ideally from operating productive multi-cluster environments. Experience with GitOps workflows (ideally ArgoCD or Fleet) and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Ansible, Terraform). Negotiation-level German skills (at least C1) and very good written and spoken English. Willingness to travel for customer appointments and appointments at other locations. Experience with SUSE stack or comparable Kubernetes management platforms. Knowledge of DevSecOps, Policy as Code, or high-availability concepts. Experience with monitoring stacks (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana). Systemic thinking instead of ticket focus, with an eye on the big picture. Confident appearance and communication at eye level with development teams and customers. Structured, independent, and solution-oriented way of working. Experience in steering topics across team and customer boundaries.
