About this Apprenticeship
Build and develop a self-hosted cloud platform using Kubernetes, GitOps, Infrastructure as Code and automated deployment processes.
What You'll Learn
- Design, build and develop a self-hosted cloud platform
- Design highly available Kubernetes clusters in the SUSE Stack, including networking, storage, load balancing and authentication
- Develop the tenant concept for isolated customer environments and take responsibility for its architecture and lifecycle
- Coordinate cluster and tenant requirements with the development team
- Develop the high-availability concept using a distributed in-memory approach across multiple nodes
- Fully automate GitOps workflows with ArgoCD and Fleet from initial delivery through Day-2 operations
- Implement Infrastructure as Code and Policy as Code
- Integrate CI/CD and standardize deployment processes
- Build self-service capabilities and standards for internal teams and support onboarding
- Support development teams in migrating their workloads
- Use monitoring data and incidents to continuously improve stability, security and performance
Requirements
- Several years of experience in cloud or platform engineering, container technologies or infrastructure automation
- Strong Kubernetes knowledge, ideally from operating production multi-cluster environments
- Experience with GitOps workflows, ideally ArgoCD or Fleet, and Infrastructure as Code such as Ansible or Terraform
- Negotiation-level German at least C1 and very good English skills
- Willingness to travel for customer appointments and meetings at other locations
- Experience with the SUSE Stack or comparable Kubernetes management platforms
- Knowledge of DevSecOps, Policy as Code or high-availability concepts
- Experience with monitoring stacks such as Prometheus or Grafana
- Systems thinking, confident communication and a structured, independent and solution-oriented working style
- Experience coordinating topics across team and customer boundaries
