At Koenig & Bauer Banknote Solutions (DE) GmbH at the Würzburg site, we are looking for a Head of Design Department for the Design division at the earliest possible date.

• Disciplinary and technical leadership of the Design department with the Mechanics, Hardware, and Software divisions (approx. 60 designers)
• Development and implementation of capacity and resource management to optimize utilization and increase efficiency of the design area
• Technical, on-time, and on-budget execution of international development and customer projects
• Introduction of methods and processes for cost-optimized design
• Ensuring efficient product development through strict target costing and avoidance of overengineering, as well as commercial controlling mechanisms in the design process
• Direct reporting to the COO of the Business Unit and close interface work with Product Management, Production/Assembly, and Controlling

• Technical university degree (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering) or equivalent qualification, combined with a solid commercial additional qualification
• Relevant leadership experience in managing design or R&D units – ideally in special machinery construction, large-scale plant engineering, or high-precision technology
• Expertise in developing processes and standards in design and cost-optimized design
• Structured and motivating leadership personality with a confident demeanor and willingness to travel
• Very good German and English skills, both written and spoken
• Sound knowledge of modern CAD/PLM systems
