About this Apprenticeship
Shape the production of tomorrow with us! You are passionate about process engineering, modern production plants, and technical projects? As a Project Engineer (m/f/d) Process Engineering, you plan and realize investment projects in the food industry. You further develop production plants, optimize processes, and accompany technical projects from the initial idea to commissioning – at our national and international sites.
What You'll Learn
- Technical projects from start to finish: You plan, budget, and control investment projects – from the initial concept through technical elaboration to commissioning and acceptance.
- Process engineering and plant planning: You design production plants and technical facilities for the food industry and develop suitable solutions for our national and international sites.
- Technical concepts and project documentation: You create technical specifications, requirement specifications, and project documents. Together with other departments, you analyze and optimize existing production processes.
- Costs in view: You calculate investments, check costs, identify savings potential, and monitor cost development throughout the entire project.
- Suppliers and external partners: You review offers, participate in contract drafts, and support the selection and supervision of external partners. In contract negotiations, you work closely with the technical department head and purchasing.
- Commissioning and acceptance: You accompany the implementation of technical projects and ensure together with those involved that the plants meet the agreed requirements.
- Project controlling and international cooperation: You document project progress, costs, and deadlines, report on the current status, and manage technical projects at our national and international sites. For this, you are also willing to travel.
Requirements
- Your education: You have a completed degree in process engineering, plant engineering, food technology, biotechnology, or a comparable qualification.
- Your experience: You bring at least two to three years of professional experience in process engineering or plant engineering, preferably in the food, chemical, or biotechnology industry.
- Your toolkit: You have good knowledge of mechanical, chemical, and thermal process engineering. Initial knowledge in plant planning, CAD/CAE, process control technology, and economic calculations is an advantage.
- Your way of working: You work in a structured manner, think solution-oriented, and keep costs, deadlines, and technical interrelationships in view. You enjoy working in a team and coordinate confidently with various departments and external partners.
- Your flexibility: You have good English skills and are willing to travel occasionally to our national and international sites (in Spain, Poland, and Romania).
What Leiber GmbH offers
- Technology you help shape: You actively plan and further develop production plants and technical processes.
- Projects with visible results: You accompany investments from planning to commissioning and see how your work is implemented in production.
- Variety and responsibility: You work on diverse technical tasks and coordinate with technology, production, purchasing, suppliers, and external partners.
- International insights: You support projects at various locations and get to know different production environments.
- Flexitime instead of rigid working hours: You organize your working time flexibly and can structure your workday independently within our flexitime.
- Permanent from day one: We offer you a permanent employment contract and a long-term perspective. Your position is not a fixed-term project.
- Affordable meals: We subsidize our canteen. A vegetarian dish currently costs you 3 euros, a classic dish 4 euros. Fresh dishes are available Monday through Thursday.
- Good coffee included: For your work, you have access to coffee from our portafilter machine.
- Sports and mobility: With Hansefit, you can use various sports and fitness offers. Via BusinessBike, you also have the opportunity to lease your dream bike at attractive conditions.

- Onboarding: Whether apprentice, career starter, or seasoned professional, we guarantee a thorough and structured onboarding in the relevant areas and support you even after onboarding.
- Teamwork: At Leiber, you can shape things – and that in a team. Together we achieve great things.
- Work-life balance: The right work-life balance makes you happy. The good feeling when work and family are balanced leads to more joy in life. We place great value on this!
