Apprenticeship as Gardener - Specialization in Garden and Landscape Construction

During your apprenticeship as a gardener specializing in garden and landscape construction, you learn to create outdoor facilities of all kinds. You enhance the environment by professionally planting lawns, trees, shrubs, perennials, and flowers. Additionally, you pave paths and squares, build stairs and dry-stone walls, and green roofs, traffic routes, pedestrian zones, and facades. You learn to plan these facilities and organize the construction site. You plan the deployment of construction equipment and materials and order the required building materials. You also set up play equipment and benches, maintain and renovate trees, and trim hedges. Later, you can independently set up, measure, and delineate your construction site according to drawings and plans. Maintenance and care of equipment are also part of your tasks. You work outdoors almost all year round at constantly changing job sites. Cold, heat, rain, and wind don’t bother you. During your apprenticeship, you attend the Willy-Brandt vocational school in Giessen. To further expand your newly acquired expertise, you take part in in-house training sessions by our instructors. You also attend inter-company, topic-specific courses at the horticultural training institute in Witzenhausen or Erfurt. Your deployment area is the municipal operations department. You mainly work at constantly changing sites within the city of Wetzlar.
