Obsolescence Manager for Radio Equipment - Tactical Secure Communications

Rohde & Schwarz is seeking an Obsolescence Manager for radio equipment in Tactical Secure Communications in Memmingen. This permanent full-time role connects engineering, product lifecycle management, procurement and service at the group's central technology and manufacturing site.

• Work at the intersection of engineering, product lifecycle management, procurement and service, actively developing solutions for discontinued or hard-to-source components
• Monitor electronic components, assemblies and accessories for discontinuation notices, product change notifications and end-of-life notices
• Analyze manufacturer information and assess its impact on supply, repairability, service processes and product availability
• Identify critical components with increased risks of failure, availability problems or procurement difficulties
• Assess spare parts, alternative components and successor products for technical compatibility, suitability and implementation effort
• Develop suitable measures such as lifetime purchases, inventory management and approval of alternatives, or initiate redesigns
• Prioritize measures according to technical criticality, costs, availability, operational relevance and impact on customers
• Maintain obsolescence lists, action plans and status overviews, and prepare information for technical and financial decisions
• Work closely with development, product management, purchasing, logistics, quality assurance and service, actively contributing technical assessments to decisions across departments

• You have a completed degree in Electrical Engineering or a related subject, ideally specializing in radio frequency or communications engineering
• You have a good understanding of the structure and operation of electronic components and assemblies, particularly in radio frequency, analog and digital technology
• You can analyze and assess technical data sheets and draw sound conclusions from them
• Ideally, you already have experience with manufacturer discontinuation notices, end-of-life processes, product change notifications or obsolescence management
• You think analytically, work in a structured way and keep track of several topics at once
• You enjoy taking responsibility, move tasks forward independently and coordinate with different departments to find solutions
• You bring team spirit, strong communication skills and a strong awareness of costs and quality
• Very good German and good English skills allow you to communicate confidently in national and international settings
