Welcome to RWTH Aachen University! This Ausbildung as industrial mechanics in combination with the Dual Study Program MaschinenbauPLus (m/f/d) takes place in Jülich, North Rhine-Westphalia. The Ausbildung duration is 30 months. The monthly Ausbildung compensation starts at €1,236.82 in the first year and increases to €1,340.61 in the last year of Ausbildung. Industrial mechanics are involved in the production of parts, assemblies, fixtures, apparatuses, and small machines; thus, they primarily serve industry and trade. They must be able to read, create, and work from construction drawings, sketches, and perspective representations.

They must know the various materials, their properties, and applications. Industrial mechanics must also master joining techniques such as welding, soldering, gluing, and other techniques. To meet the demands of new technologies, they must also acquire basic skills and knowledge in control and regulation technology during their Ausbildung. In addition to working on conventional and computer-controlled machine tools, such as turning, sawing, drilling, milling, and grinding, they also receive Ausbildung in mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic control and regulation techniques.

Due to the uniqueness of most experimental apparatuses, Ausbildung at RWTH Aachen usually focuses on single-piece production. Great importance is attached to a broad-based Ausbildung, so that industrial mechanics can apply for positions almost anywhere in industrial and craft businesses after passing their final examination.

The in-company Ausbildung takes place in the workshops of the respective university institutions. It is supplemented at the vocational training center for mechanics at RWTH Aachen and through inter-company measures.

Vocational school instruction takes place partly on two days a week at the Mies-van-der-Rohe-Schule, Berufskolleg für Technik der Stadt Aachen, Neuköllner Straße 17, 52068 Aachen.
