Mechatronic systems in vehicle technology, such as braking and steering systems, automatic transmissions, chassis systems, and engine management, are characterized by their complex electronic-mechanical interaction. Automotive mechatronics technicians must therefore be at home in all areas of vehicle technology, both in automotive mechanics and automotive electronics. This professional group, with its focus, services and repairs passenger cars. To do this, they analyze electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems. They identify faults and malfunctions and rectify their causes. They use automatic measurement and testing systems to identify faults. They operate passenger cars and their systems, commission them, and check whether they comply with road traffic regulations. For example, they carry out test drives or perform exhaust gas measurements. According to customer requirements, they also equip passenger cars with various additional features such as trailer hitches, air conditioning systems, navigation systems, or very special aids for disabled drivers.
