EHS Engineer

As an EHS Engineer in Grünenplan, you will play a key role in making the site safer and more sustainable. You will strengthen SCHOTT's safety culture and improve workplace safety, health and environmental protection in a technically demanding production setting.

• Develop the strategy for workplace safety, health and environmental protection and oversee these areas across the site
• Take direct responsibility for environmental protection and gradually take on wider EHS responsibility through a planned handover.
• Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory and internal EHS requirements in cooperation with relevant departments
• Build a lasting safety culture across the site by implementing group wide EHS initiatives and programmes.
• Take responsibility for EHS management systems and improve processes, standards and digital applications using relevant performance measures
• Oversee risk assessments, audits, inspections and improvements to reduce safety and environmental risks over the long term.
• Advise managers and related departments on all matters concerning workplace safety, health and environmental protection.
• Lead, develop and support the EHS team and encourage cooperation across departments.
• Represent the site with authorities, auditors and external partners, and in EHS networks across SCHOTT sites to share knowledge and improve common standards.

• Completed engineering degree, ideally with a focus on environmental, process or safety engineering
• Several years of experience in workplace safety and environmental protection, preferably in an industrial setting.
• Thorough knowledge of relevant legal requirements for workplace safety, health and environmental protection.
• Experience with EHS management systems and compliance processes, along with a strong interest in digital and data based applications
• Strong communication and persuasion skills, with a diplomatic approach to working with different stakeholders and departments.
• Strong initiative, a desire to shape improvements, and a structured approach focused on finding solutions.
• Business fluent German and good English for working in international EHS networks and projects.
