Legal Counsel for Liability and Damages Law

A full time legal role in the ProDirekt team in Neckarsulm. Handle German liability and recovery claims for Lidl, Kaufland, PreZero and Schwarz Produktion, from assessing liability and settling claims to coordinating litigation.

• Independent claims handling: Assess and settle complex liability claims, determining both liability and the amount payable. Focus on complex personal injury cases, which make up around two thirds of your cases, as well as property damage and financial loss.
• Strategic liability assessment: Decide whether to reject unjustified claims or settle valid claims within internal guidelines.
• Litigation management: When no agreement is reached, manage litigation independently and coordinate external lawyers, including proceedings before the German Federal Court of Justice.
• Working across teams: Communicate as an equal with affected customers, their legal representatives and internal teams across the Schwarz Group, including store support, customer service, legal, HR, property, logistics and online retail.

• Qualifications: You have completed a law degree with a focus on insurance law. Alternatively, you have a business law qualification and experience in damages law.
• Experience: You are thoroughly familiar with handling liability claims and have sound knowledge of liability and damages law.
• Working approach: You maintain an overview even in complex cases and set clear priorities.
• Personality: You have strong communication skills, show empathy when dealing with different stakeholders, and enjoy finding solutions as part of a team.
