About this Apprenticeship
Support eight to nine adults with intellectual disabilities in their daily lives in an SOS-Kinderdorf shared home. Work with four colleagues and a housekeeper to encourage independence, participation and social skills. This is a part-time position.
What You'll Learn
- Take independent responsibility for shifts, including occasional overnight standby, in a residential group with up to nine adult residents.
- Put individual support plans into practice and provide support suited to each person's needs.
- Plan weekends and leisure activities that encourage participation, community and quality of life.
- Promote participation and inclusion in everyday life in the shared home.
- Show respect, empathy, creativity and commitment when working independently and with the team.
- Carefully follow child protection and safeguarding practices for people in your care.
Requirements
- A qualification in disability support, education, elderly care or general nursing, or an equivalent qualification
- Openness to people with and without disabilities living and working together
- A respectful and appreciative approach to everyone
- Interest in our work and daily life in the residential group
- Reliability and a sense of responsibility towards residents and colleagues
- A professional approach to maintaining appropriate boundaries with people in your care
- A valid category B driving licence
