Practice-integrated training as a state-recognized educator at FABIDO

Your training takes place at FABIDO, the municipal provider of more than 100 daycare centres in Dortmund. As the largest provider of daycare centres in Dortmund, a family atmosphere and shared pedagogical principles unite us at FABIDO. Nevertheless, each of our daycare centres is unique!

As an educator, your tasks include stimulating, supporting and promoting children's developmental and educational processes. You plan and organise the pedagogical daily routine in a FABIDO daycare centre and work closely in a team with the other pedagogical professionals. Educators observe children's behaviour and well-being, care for and support them, analyse the results according to pedagogical principles and assess e.g. developmental stage, motivation or social behaviour. On this basis, you create long-term educational plans and pedagogical measures and activities that support e.g. social behaviour or individual development. Through your work, you promote the physical and mental development of the children by encouraging them to engage in creative activities as well as free or guided play. You get to know the field of early childhood education and can link your acquired knowledge from vocational school with practice. You accompany children's educational processes and support families in various life situations. Furthermore, you must document measures and their results, and conduct conversations with children and parents. Nursing and housekeeping tasks are also part of your duties. You attend the Gisbert-von-Romberg Vocational College in Dortmund. In addition to general education subjects such as German, Politics and Natural Sciences, job-related subjects are naturally also taught. In the facility, you have the opportunity to link theory with practice. You will be supported and accompanied by your practical instructor. In the third year, the technical school examination and the colloquium take place.
