Apprenticeship as a Retail Salesperson

Books move people, and you can play a part in that. Books are more than pages covered in letters. They open doors to new worlds, bring people together, and make stories come alive. That is exactly what happens in our bookshops every day. What should you know about us? Thalia has existed for more than 100 years. It all began with a small bookshop in Hamburg. Today, we are the market leader with more than 570 bookshops in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. In your apprenticeship as a retail salesperson, you will learn how to advise customers, design bookshops, and organize our product range. You will become part of a team that loves books as much as you do and help keep our bookshop a welcoming place.

• Advising customers and making sales in the bookshop's various departments
• Cashier duties and cash reconciliation
• Designing and presenting book-related product ranges for specific target groups
• Researching databases and analyzing merchandise management data
• Organizing and holding events such as author readings

• A good intermediate secondary school certificate, an entrance qualification for a university of applied sciences, or Abitur
• A sense for trends, an interest in digital worlds, and enjoyment of working with various media
• Customer- and service-oriented thinking and action
• Strong communication skills, a positive attitude, initiative, teamwork, and reliability

At Thalia, diversity and a culture of appreciation are important drivers of creativity and innovation. Applications from people of every background, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, and ability are expressly welcomed.
