Cold Weather Assistance / Emergency Overnight Shelter

We are looking for the Caritas Cold Weather Assistance, Residenzstraße 90, 13409 Berlin, starting from November 1, 2026, an employee in the emergency overnight shelter within the framework of cold weather assistance (m/f/d), limited until project end, at most until May 1, 2026. Working hours: 5:30 PM - 11:00 PM, 5:30 PM - 12:00 AM or 11:00 PM - 9:00 AM, deployment according to duty roster. For our super nice, young team we are looking for support for the coming winter. The working hours are super flexible and e.g. easy to combine with studies. Willingness to be open towards our homeless clients is a prerequisite. Night and standby duties should be possible after consultation. We look forward to applications.

Contact person for overnight guests during the shift - Admission and instruction - Laundry service, distribution of inventory and food, preparation of meals - De-escalation in conflict cases - If necessary, calling emergency services such as fire department, police, emergency doctor, etc. - Enforcing house rules, implementing hygiene protection concept - Complying with fire protection as well as occupational health and safety and hygiene standards - Handover to coordination and colleagues - Cooperation with security personnel

Professional experience in social work - Openness towards the target group - Preferably practical experience with the target group - Reliability and teamwork - A certain psychological resilience and frustration tolerance - Strong communication and conflict resolution skills - Independence - Foreign language skills in English and other languages (e.g. Polish, Romanian) desirable - Time flexibility, willingness to take on holiday and weekend shifts - Mandatory participation in the all-day introductory seminar at the end of October - Identification with the goals of Caritas is required.
