PhD Candidate, Röder Research Group

PhD position at the Institute of Medical Informatics and Biometry at the Carl Gustav Carus Faculty of Medicine at TU Dresden. The position is limited to 36 months and involves developing and applying mathematical models to simulate the dynamics of hematopoietic stem cells in the bone marrow.

Developing mathematical models to describe cellular dynamics; implementing the models in a suitable programming environment; simulating cellular dynamics in complex 3D structures; applying the computer model as a virtual bridge between in-vitro and in-vivo studies; systematically analysing and interpreting experimental data; working closely with experimental teams at TU Dresden and cooperating laboratories elsewhere in Europe.

Completed university degree (M.Sc., Diploma or equivalent) in mathematics, physics, computer science, engineering with a biological or technological focus, or a related discipline; very good or excellent academic performance; strong interest in interdisciplinary work applying mathematical or computational methods to biology and medicine; solid programming experience, for example in R or Python; knowledge of stem cell biology and experience in mathematical modelling are advantageous; reliability, creativity, flexibility, teamwork, and a cooperative, independent and goal-oriented working style; very good English skills.
