About this Apprenticeship
Orthoptists are highly specialized professionals in ophthalmology. They examine, diagnose and treat poor vision, squints and neurologically caused eye movement disorders. The work may also include fitting magnifying visual aids and neuro-ophthalmological rehabilitation. Orthoptists work in a therapeutic team. Training at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE), starting 01.11.2027, lasting 3 years.
Requirements

- you have completed at least the intermediate school certificate
- you have a foreign school certificate? Then, together with translation and recognition, we need an equivalence certificate from a German school authority as well as proof of at least German level B2
- you are at least 17 years old at the start of the training
- a two-week internship in an orthoptic facility, e.g. in the vision school of an ophthalmologist's practice, is desirable
