Apprenticeship as Medical Assistant (MFA)

The state-recognized training to become a Medical Assistant (MFA) lasts three years and takes place in cooperation with the Geislingen Commercial School. The vocational training is dual, i.e. split into two parts, so that our trainees alternate between the clinic and the vocational school. For theoretical and practical lessons, our trainees attend vocational school one and a half days a week. They complete their practical assignments during the rest of the working week in various departments at ALB FILS KLINIKUM and apply the knowledge they have learned directly. The vocational school teaches basic knowledge in anatomy, medicine, billing and data processing. During practical assignments at ALB FILS KLINIKUM, you will get to know a wide variety of fields and take on concrete and responsible tasks throughout the hospital environment. Assignments include the secretariat of a medical department, an internal and/or surgical outpatient clinic, the medical practices of the ALB FILS KLINIKUM Medical Care Center, outpatient and/or inpatient billing, and various functional areas such as endoscopy, sonography and cardiac functional diagnostics. The broad range of services at ALB FILS KLINIKUM offers the opportunity to experience the great diversity of medicine. You will also learn to handle various medical devices. Before the end of the second year of training, our trainees take a written intermediate exam. This allows any training deficiencies to be identified and remedied before the final exam. At the end of the three-year training, there is a final exam with a written and an oral part. The responsible body is the Baden-Württemberg Medical Association.

The profession requires at least a very good secondary school leaving certificate or a higher-level school qualification. Important character traits you should bring: an open personality and good manners, physical and mental resilience, thoroughness, sense of responsibility and awareness of hazards. Your medical fitness certificate can be submitted after a successful application (proof by medical certificate). There must be no entry in your certificate of good conduct.
