IT Network Technician

To support the NW Integration and Engineering team in the IT Networks department, Autobahn GmbH is looking for a permanent IT network technician as soon as possible at one of its sites in Berlin, Dresden, Essen or Frankfurt am Main. Dresden is preferred. The department ensures smooth operation of a nationwide, highly complex network environment. Pay group E11.

• Planning, building, configuring and continuously developing the Layer 2 and Layer 3 network infrastructure in the company-wide backbone and access network
• Installing and integrating network components and ensuring new or changed systems are handed over to live operation
• Analyzing, evaluating and introducing new network technologies, strategies, components and software releases to optimize the network infrastructure
• Carrying out measures to increase network security (including hardening) and analyzing and fixing faults in a complex, nationwide environment
• Supporting IT service management, implementing changes and taking part in proofs of concept to test new technologies
• Creating, maintaining and developing technical documentation (e.g. operating manuals, standards, test documentation) and ensuring audit-proof documentation

• Successfully completed vocational training in IT, e.g. focusing on system integration, application development, data and process analysis, digital networking, or comparable knowledge, skills and experience
• Sound knowledge of network design (Layer 2/Layer 3) and common network technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
• Experience in evaluating, selecting and introducing new network technologies
• Methodical skill in creating technical documentation and standards
• Familiarity with IT security requirements (e.g. BSI IT-Grundschutz) and IT service management processes (ITIL)
• Analytical skills for structured fault analysis and high reliability when working with security-critical systems
• Good German skills, spoken and written; additional languages are welcome
