Apprenticeship – Precision Optician, Starting Summer 2027

As a precision optician (f/m/x), you will manufacture lenses, prisms, mirrors and other precision optical assemblies for optical and optoelectronic high-performance systems at ZEISS. During the apprenticeship, you will program and control CNC machines and systems, robots, digital measuring devices and acquire broad technical knowledge. The profession requires an interest in modern, digital manufacturing technologies and additionally manual dexterity to produce the wide variety of optical materials and shapes with various manufacturing processes while meeting high quality requirements.

• Lenses, prisms, mirrors – manually machine components for example binoculars, microscopes and medical devices
• Measure, test and manually and mechanically produce optical parts and components for optical high-performance systems such as in semiconductor manufacturing for chip technology or medical technology
• Assemble and align high-quality optical instruments consisting of mechanical, mechatronic and optical components
• Program, control and monitor CNC-controlled production systems and robots
• Set up, program and operate digital and classic measuring devices for processing optical components
• Acquire extensive knowledge of latest technologies

• A very good lower secondary, intermediate secondary or higher school leaving certificate
• Interest in mathematics, physics and modern technologies
• Interest in digital processes and pronounced manual dexterity
• Spatial and analytical thinking skills as well as enjoyment of precise work
• A high level of commitment and self-motivation
• Good team, communication and problem-solving skills
