Battery Test Engineer

We are looking for experienced experts who want responsibility and to shape things! DEKRA Testing and Certification GmbH is an independent testing organisation for testing, certifying and assessing products and systems.

• You test products according to relevant safety and transport standards, especially IEC 62133-2, IEC 62619 and IEC 63370 for battery charging systems
• You develop and optimise test setups for electrical, mechanical, climatic and safety-related tests on batteries, including BMS protection functions and system tests of charger and battery
• You also evaluate test results, document deviations and write comprehensive test reports, mainly in English
• You support certification and release processes in coordination with customers, labs and internal departments
• You assess protection concepts such as overcharge, deep discharge, overcurrent and temperature monitoring in the BMS and check how well they work in the whole system
• You also monitor production sites and carry out tests in customer labs
• You continuously improve processes and actively contribute ideas to developing the test lab

• Degree in electrical engineering, energy engineering, mechatronics, chemical engineering or comparable qualification
• First professional experience in product testing, development, validation or quality assurance of batteries, energy storage or comparable electrical products
• Basic knowledge of relevant standards and test methods for batteries, especially IEC 62133-2, IEC 62619 and requirements for battery charging systems
• Interest in a work environment that requires both practical and theoretical knowledge
• Cooperative and independent working style, strong problem-solving skills, teamwork and flexibility
• Very good German and English skills
• Willingness to travel about 10%
