Apprenticeship Train Traffic Controller 2027

Train traffic control is an indispensable part of rail transport. Here you ensure that our passengers reach their destination safely and on time. Starting 1 September 2027 we are looking for you for the 3-year apprenticeship as railway operator in train traffic control (f/m/d) for DB InfraGO track at the Landshut location. You attend the state vocational school 1 in Luitpoldstraße 26 in 84034 Landshut. With the apprenticeship you become coordinator of our trains. You don't sit in the train, but in a control center (called 'signal box'). We have countless of them throughout Germany. Via screens or boards you can observe trains in your area and influence the journey of trains via buttons, keys and levers. Because at the push of a button you can set signals (traffic lights for trains) to green or red and also switch points so that trains can change tracks. Many other tasks make you the most important team member for the train drivers. You are in constant contact and exchange e.g. about changes during the journey.

• You learn to control train traffic safely and punctually
• You are often in contact with other employees in train traffic control and in control centers as well as train drivers
• You learn when to press the right buttons and keys to switch e.g. signals (traffic lights) or points (track change crossings)
• During your apprenticeship you become familiar with the application of operational regulations and safety-relevant rules
• In the course of your apprenticeship you will become comprehensively familiar with our various signal box technologies - from classic mechanics in mechanical signal boxes through relay and push-button control of modern systems to digital operation in electronic signal boxes
• After your apprenticeship you will be deployed in shift service, also on weekends and holidays

• You will soon successfully complete school with the qualifying secondary school diploma, and your school diploma will be recognized in Germany
• Your German skills correspond to at least B2 language level
