Apprenticeship Train Traffic Controller 2027

Train traffic control is an indispensable part of rail transport. Here you ensure that our passengers reach their destination safely and on time. Starting 1 September 2027, we are looking for you for the 3-year apprenticeship as a railway operator in train traffic control (f/m/d) for DB InfraGO AG at the Passau location. You will attend the state vocational school 1 in Luitpoldstraße 26 in 84034 Landshut. With the apprenticeship, you will become the coordinator of our trains. You don't sit in the train, but in a control center (called: 'signal box'). We have countless ones all over Germany. Via screens or panels, you can observe the trains in your area and influence the train journey via buttons, keys, and levers. At the push of a button, you can set signals (traffic lights for trains) to green or red and also switch points so that trains can change tracks. Many other tasks make you the most important team member for the train drivers. You are constantly in contact and exchange information, e.g., about changes during the journey.

• You will learn to control train traffic safely and punctually
• You will often be in contact with other employees in train traffic control and in control centers as well as with train drivers
• You will learn when to press the right buttons and keys to switch signals (traffic lights) or points (track change transitions)
• During your apprenticeship, you will become familiar with the application of operational regulations and safety-relevant rules
• In the course of your apprenticeship, you will become comprehensively acquainted with our various signal box technologies – from classic mechanics in mechanical signal boxes to relay and push-button control of modern systems to digital operation in electronic signal boxes
• After your apprenticeship, you will be deployed in shift service, also on weekends and public holidays

• You will soon have successfully completed school with a qualifying secondary school diploma, and your school diploma will be recognized in Germany
• Your German language skills correspond to at least level B2
