Snowflake Data Engineer

We are currently in one of the most exciting technological transformation phases of our BI history: We are migrating our data landscape from SAP BW to a state-of-the-art, cloud-based Snowflake data platform on Azure. For you, this means: no rigid legacy systems, but the unique opportunity to actively shape a real major project from the start. You are not only there for implementation, but bring your own expertise, ideas, and fresh impulses to significantly co-design our new data architecture. The BI & Analytics organizational unit is responsible for the provision, further development, and optimization of Business Intelligence (BI) and analytical solutions for the entire company. It acts as a central enabler of data-driven decisions and supports specialist departments in gaining valuable insights from data. As a Snowflake Data Engineer (m/f/d) for the new EDEKA data platform, you play a central role in the development of our data products. You are responsible for the continuous further development of our curated data layers as well as for ingest and export processes. In addition, you ensure through targeted quality assurance that we can guarantee the most trouble-free operation possible. Your contribution is decisive in ensuring that EDEKA has well-structured data with high data quality.

• Development & Optimization: You are responsible for the development, scaling, and maintenance of data products, architectures, and pipelines on our Snowflake data platform (on Azure).
• Data Integration: You build efficient data integration processes and maintain them to ensure consistent and high-performance data provision from various sources.
• Data Governance: You monitor and implement data governance and security standards in all data processing processes.
• Continuous Improvement & Analysis: You continuously evaluate and optimize our data infrastructure to continuously increase the efficiency and quality of our data flows.
• Teamwork & Agile Methods: You work closely in the development team and with the Product Owner to implement technical requirements in an agile and goal-oriented manner.

• You have successfully completed a degree or vocational training with an IT focus – e.g. (Business) Informatics, Data Science or similar – or have a comparable qualification.
• You have practical experience with Snowflake, especially in the development of high-performance data models, pipelines, and authorization concepts. Ideal tech stack: Snowflake, Coalesce, SQL, Python, PowerBI, Azure.
• You have strong analytical thinking skills and the ability to analyze complex technical challenges in a structured way and translate them into pragmatic solutions.
• You enjoy questioning existing things, introducing new technological impulses, and making decisions based on data and analyses.
• You communicate strongly and in a target-group-oriented manner – both with technical teams and with specialist stakeholders.
• You bring practical experience in agile working methods (e.g. Scrum or Kanban).
• You have fluent German skills in word and writing (CEFR level C1 or higher).
