(Online) Editor Sports - WAZ

To strengthen our local sports editorial team in Essen, we are looking for you as (Online) Editor Sports - WAZ (m/f/d).

• You implement a broad understanding of sports journalistically across all digital and analog channels, including social media.
• You cover local sports in Bochum and Essen with a diverse range of club and recreational sports.
• You build and continuously maintain a network of contacts.
• You analyze the interests of our users using dashboard data.
• You demonstrate creativity in finding topics beyond match-day events.
• You work closely with other departments, including the implementation of football live streams.
• You represent the WAZ as a contact person for people, organizations, and clubs in the Ruhr area.

• You have completed a traineeship (Volontariat) and ideally have several years of experience in local or sports journalism.
• You have a feel for relevant local sports topics and know what moves people locally.
• You are experienced in using social media channels (especially Facebook & Instagram) and conducting sports live streams.
• You know Essen and Bochum or look forward to getting to know the region, its clubs, and people.
• You are willing to work regularly on weekends.
• Knowledge of digital journalistic workflows and the use of analytics tools rounds off your profile.
