Global Compliance Officer

We are looking for a motivated personality as Global Compliance Officer (m/f/d) for our Hamburg location. This key position offers you the exciting opportunity to combine global compliance responsibility with a broadly positioned General Counsel function. In doing so, you create the organisational framework for compliance with legal, regulatory and ethical standards on a national and international level. You report directly to top management and make a significant contribution to the sustainable further development of HELM.

As Global Compliance Officer, you assume technical responsibility for the group-wide compliance and governance organisation and develop it strategically. The focus is particularly on the topics of anti-corruption, competition and cartel law, money laundering prevention and trade compliance. Your tasks: Further development and management of the group-wide compliance management system. Identification, analysis and assessment of compliance risks as well as development and implementation of corresponding guidelines and processes. Responsibility for the group-wide whistleblower system including professional processing and follow-up of relevant reports. Development and implementation of compliance training and awareness measures. Compliance reporting to the Management Board and supervisory bodies. Close cooperation with specialist departments on adjacent topics such as Sustainability and HSE to promote a holistic governance approach. As General Counsel, you act as a strategic sparring partner for the Management Board, managers and business units. You ensure practical, entrepreneurially oriented legal advice and support key corporate decisions. Your tasks: Strategic and practical advice to the Management Board and all business units on legal issues including legal and litigation reporting. Legal support for strategic projects, investments, participations, M&A and joint venture projects. Responsibility for the legal support of key commercial contracts and further development of group-wide contract standards. Monitoring regulatory developments and supporting business units in implementing legal and regulatory requirements. Further development of Legal Operations, Legal Tech, knowledge management and digital processes. Active participation in the further development of a group-wide risk strategy. Assumption of the function of Data Protection Officer or data protection law advice and support for group companies within the agreed scope.

You have a completed law degree or a degree in business law (LL.B or LL.M), ideally with a focus on compliance. You have at least 5 years of professional experience in a globally operating company with a focus on Corporate Governance & Compliance as well as legal advisory. In previous positions you have already gained in-depth knowledge of commercial and business law and cartel and competition law. Areas such as anti-corruption, money laundering prevention, trade compliance and sanctions as well as internal control systems and risk management are also familiar to you. Furthermore, you are also familiar with the development and organisation of CM systems. Ideally, you also already have knowledge in the area of data protection law and governance and have experience in this context with Legal Operations, Legal Tech and the digitalisation of legal and compliance-related processes. You convince various stakeholders through your trustworthiness, diplomacy and entrepreneurial mindset. You promote open and trusting cooperation and convince through strong communication and leadership skills. Negotiation-proficient German and English skills in word and writing round off your profile.
