The dual study program at Mercedes-Benz not only offers you a solid academic education and practical experience, but also a significant corporate experience. Through the campus model, you experience the corporation up close! In joint training sessions and seminars, which take place predominantly in Sindelfingen, you meet students from all plants. During your practical assignments in the second and third year of study, you start at your home plant Untertürkheim. Mechatronics engineers work at the interface of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, automation technology and computer science. You spend the theoretical phases at the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University in Stuttgart. Mathematical-scientific and electrical engineering fundamentals, mechanical engineering, computer science, mechatronic systems are examples of the solid technical knowledge imparted in theory. The specialization Electric Mobility and Vehicle Systems Engineering combines contents of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, information technology and business administration, creating a solid basis for complex interdisciplinary contexts. These fundamentals are supplemented by specific content such as energy storage, safety in high-voltage systems, electric mobility technology and systems, and lightweight construction. In the practical phases you gain experience e.g. in production planning, testing, development or in the search for technological solutions for the operational capability of fuel cells and hybrid drives.
