SAP Basis, Interface & Operations Engineer

As an SAP Basis, Interface & Operations Engineer you are part of the IT team at Mercedes-Benz Customer Solutions GmbH. The team is responsible for developing and running the business applications and the underlying technical platforms, which are mainly based on SAP and Microsoft technologies. You actively help shape the stable, secure and high-performing operation of the SAP system landscape and the further development of the integration landscape. This is a permanent position.

• Technical support, monitoring and continuous optimization of our SAP S/4HANA system landscape including the relevant application, database and infrastructure components
• Analysis of technical requirements and faults as well as development, alignment and clear presentation of viable solutions for SAP Basis, interface and operations topics
• Implementation and local adaptation of overarching SAP, security and operating standards as well as active participation in technical modernization and transformation initiatives
• Management and coordination of services provided by SAP Enterprise Cloud Services, SAP Cloud Application Services and other service providers, including quality assurance, escalation management and follow-up of agreed measures
• Planning, management and technical support of system updates, support packages, kernel updates, patches, maintenance windows and performance optimizations together with internal and external partners
• Ensuring compliance with company, security, compliance and audit requirements including SAP hardening, technical authorizations and traceable operations documentation
• Support of process owners and the application and development teams with technical questions, error analysis, deployments and the handover of new or changed solutions into regular operation
• Technical participation in SAP migrations, upgrades, system copies and transformation projects as well as coordination of the internal and external partners involved
• End-to-end technical responsibility for monitoring, operation, troubleshooting, optimization and further development of SAP interfaces to third-party and peripheral systems in cloud, hybrid and on-premises environments
• Contribution to the further development of governance, quality and operating standards for SAP Basis and integration including transport, change, incident and problem management
• Continuous improvement of stability, security, performance, automation and transparency of the SAP and interface landscape based on measurable operating data and established best practices

• Completed degree in computer science, business informatics, software engineering, engineering or a comparable field, or comparable IT-related training with relevant practical experience
• Several years of practical experience in SAP Basis, technical application operations and supporting productive SAP S/4HANA and SAP HANA system landscapes, ideally in the RISE with SAP environment
• Solid experience in managing external SAP operations services as well as with updates, upgrades, migrations, system copies and technical transformation projects
• Solid technical understanding of the SAP Basis landscape including application servers, SAP HANA database, operating systems, networks, cloud connections and relevant infrastructure components
• Practical experience with monitoring, performance analysis, root cause analysis, automation and structured resolution of complex technical incidents
• In-depth knowledge of SAP interface technologies such as IDoc, RFC, OData, SOAP and REST APIs as well as web services, and experience with SAP Process Orchestration, SAP Integration Suite or comparable integration platforms
• Confident use of SAP Application Lifecycle Management, transport and change management and monitoring solutions such as SAP Solution Manager, SAP Focused Run or SAP Cloud ALM
• Experience in incident, problem, change and release management as well as a strong awareness of quality, stability, security and service
• Experience working with SAP Enterprise Cloud Services, SAP Cloud Application Services or comparable service providers, and the ability to manage, review and, if needed, escalate external services effectively
• Strong analytical skills, structured error analysis and a solution-oriented hands-on mentality, especially for faults in complex integration chains
• Independent, proactive and reliable way of working as well as clear communication and dependable collaboration in interdisciplinary, agile and international teams
• Very good German and English skills, spoken and written - further languages are welcome
