Judicial Specialist - Fast-track Training for Diverse Tasks in the Judiciary

Judicial specialists experience what others only know from TV. They follow exciting proceedings up close, from various perspectives. Without them, nothing works in the judiciary – because both in the courtroom and in the organization of proceedings they bear a great deal of responsibility. In service teams, they are central contacts for citizens, lawyers, and parties to proceedings, ensuring smooth operations in the judiciary. They handle correspondence and excel at recording applications and statements with overview and organizational skills. In criminal proceedings, they handle scheduling, summon witnesses, and keep minutes during hearings. Furthermore, judicial specialists process file inspection requests and issue certifications. The calculation of court costs and the management of files – almost exclusively digital – are also among their tasks. They work closely and trustingly with judges, prosecutors, legal clerks, and judicial specialists.

• Judicial specialists work in all court departments and are specialists in, among others:
• Criminal proceedings
• Civil proceedings
• Enforcement and foreclosure proceedings
• Insolvency proceedings
• Family and guardianship proceedings
• Estate matters
• Land register matters
• Commercial and association register matters At public prosecutor's offices, they work in the investigation or enforcement departments. Furthermore, judicial specialists can take on responsible tasks in the administration of a court or public prosecutor's office.

Requirement for employment is a secondary school diploma (e.g., Mittlere Reife). Enjoy organizing and willingness to take responsibility. Independent work in a team, resilience under high workload, time pressure, and dealing with diverse people.

A career with prospects: Judicial specialists are employed in the public service of the state of Baden-Württemberg and are paid according to the collective agreement for the public service of the Länder (TV-L). When employed in the service units of courts and public prosecutor's offices, remuneration is usually according to salary group 9a (TV-L). Judicial specialists who complete their apprenticeship with a good exam result and meet civil service requirements have the opportunity, after at least one year of professional experience, to complete a six-month additional training for the mid-level judicial service career (Judicial Specialist).
