High School Graduate Program - Retail Specialist

If a university degree is too theoretical for you but you want to make the most of your high school diploma, our high school graduate program is just right! At OBI you get an exciting career start in which you obtain three qualifications within only three years: the shortened apprenticeship as a retail merchant, the subsequent further training as a certified retail specialist and the trainer aptitude certificate according to AEVO. This gives you the same level as a bachelor's degree (EQF level 6). The framework: you work five days a week in various shifts within our opening hours (Monday to Saturday). During your three apprenticeship years you attend ten two‑week seminars at a training centre that ideally complement your practical training and prepare you comprehensively for the exams.

Retail knowledge – you familiarise yourself intensively with sales, assortment and processes to build broad retail expertise Customer advice – competent advice to our customers on site in the store and handling of digital customer enquiries Operational support – you actively support our department heads in daily tasks and directly contribute to the store's success Further training – use the diverse further training opportunities OBI offers to continuously expand your knowledge Contribute ideas – actively bring in your own ideas, because we meet at eye level and value your opinion Independent work style – you work responsibly on your tasks while maintaining close exchange with the store management Practical projects – you gain valuable experience during our apprentice project week or in our two‑week apprentice store

School leaving certificate – you have successfully completed your (technical) high school diploma by the start of the apprenticeship Engagement & communication – you are open, committed, actively approach people and shine as a team Sense of responsibility – you gradually take on more responsibility, are assertive and ambitious Mobility & flexibility – you are open to assignments in various stores in your region Passion for retail – you have a strong enthusiasm for retail; ideally you already have some experience (part‑time job/internship)

Attractive pay – staggered remuneration: €1,280 (months 1‑12), €1,425 (from month 13), €2,400 (from approx. month 19; after passing the IHK exam as retail merchant) plus pro‑rated holiday and Christmas bonuses Cost coverage for further training – we cover all costs for your apprenticeship and further training at the BZE in Springe (including travel, accommodation and meals) Mobility bonus – receive up to €30 net per month, graded by your commute.
