Apprenticeship - Retail Salesperson

Your three-year apprenticeship (shortenable with good performance) is the ideal entry to dive into our assortment and build your career foundation. You work five days a week in shifts within opening hours (Mon–Sat). Vocational school is attended in blocks or on fixed days. Tasks include: learning the full building and garden range, understanding all store operations (checkout, service center, goods receipt), advising customers, merchandise ordering and presentation, handling digital customer inquiries via app, email, messenger, and participating in projects like the apprentice project week or the two-week apprentice-run store.

Product knowledge: learn the full building and garden range, later specialize in preferred area; Store operations: learn all areas including checkout, service center, goods receipt to understand the business; Customer advice: advise customers in-store and find suitable solutions; Merchandise management: familiarize with ordering and optimal product presentation; Digital customer interaction: handle inquiries via app, email, messenger for modern customer dialogue; Project participation: implement varied store projects with the team, gain experience during apprentice project week and two-week apprentice-run store.

School leaving certificate: successful Hauptschulabschluss, Realschulabschluss, or Abitur before apprenticeship start; Customer orientation: enjoy working with people, open manner; Enthusiasm: motivated for varied tasks and diverse daily routine; Communication skills: express yourself clearly in person and digitally, willing to actively advise and sell.

Attractive pay: staggered remuneration €1,175 (1st year), €1,280 (2nd year), €1,425 (3rd year) plus pro-rated holiday and Christmas bonuses; Mobility allowance: up to €30 net per month based on commute distance (full amount from 6 km, pro-rated for shorter); Work-life balance: six weeks annual leave; Personal buddy: experienced colleagues ease your start and support you; Training opportunities: product, system, and sales training on-site or via digital platforms; Shopping at OBI: 15% discount in-store and online; Sustainable commuting: heavily subsidized company bike on request.
