IT Engineer Systems Hardening

Schönhofer Sales and Engineering, a subsidiary of Rohde & Schwarz, is a systems and software house developing solutions for authorities and public clients. In this role you design and implement monitoring, logging and hardening solutions for Windows platforms.

• You design and implement comprehensive monitoring and logging solutions to observe system performance and security (Log Analytics).
• Designing and implementing hardening concepts for Windows platforms (Microsoft Security Baselines, Server Core deployments, BitLocker, Windows Defender ATP, SecOps playbooks) is part of your remit.
• You are responsible for analysing and fixing complex system problems and performance bottlenecks (memory dump analysis, Perf-Mon, Windows Performance Toolkit).
• You create and maintain detailed documentation of the platform infrastructure and related processes (Wiki, Confluence, DevOps Wiki).
• You work closely with developers, DevOps teams and other IT areas (e.g. CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps / GitHub Actions).
• Evaluating and introducing new technologies to continuously improve the Windows platform infrastructure is part of your tasks.

• You have a completed degree in computer science, business informatics or a comparable qualification.
• You bring several years of professional experience in Windows system administration and platform operations.
• You have already gained sound knowledge of Windows and Windows Server administration (Active Directory, Group Policy, PowerShell, Hyper-V).
• Your experience with Kubernetes and container technologies on Windows nodes (AKS, Docker Enterprise) sets you apart.
• Experience with Microsoft infrastructures (Windows Server, Azure AD, Microsoft 365, System Center, MECM) is an advantage.
• You have very good knowledge of scripting languages, mainly PowerShell as well as Python/Bash for hybrid scenarios.
• You have experience with monitoring and logging tools (Graylog, Log Analytics, CHECKMK).
• You bring sound knowledge of IT security (Microsoft Security Baselines, BSI IT-Grundschutz, hardening concepts, zero-trust architecture).
• You are familiar with automation tools in practice (PowerShell DSC, Ansible for Windows, Terraform).
• You are a strong communicator, team-oriented and able to explain complex matters clearly.
• Good German and English skills, written and spoken, round off your profile.
