About this Apprenticeship
In our Werdersee children's residential group at SOS Children's Village Bremen, we offer children aged 6 and up in a 7-person residential group a loving, family-like environment and accompany the young people pedagogically according to their needs through individual support as they grow up and become adults. The round-the-clock care by our pedagogical team is designed so that the important caregivers are continuously available to the children. The care arrangements are short-, medium-, and long-term. Particular importance is attached to close cooperation with parents, who are integrated into the children's daily lives as much as possible. This ideally enables the child's return to the parental home. If reunification is not possible, the children remain in the residential group or move to an age-appropriate group within our facility. We are looking for a committed colleague who is eager to support our multiprofessional team of eight pedagogical specialists in the loving care of the children. Together, you will shape and organize the daily lives of children aged 6 and up with everything that makes a family home.
What You'll Learn
You participate in the care and support planning and its implementation. Through your pedagogical work, you specifically promote the children's autonomy, e.g., through participation instruments. For the children and adolescents, you are a stable and reliable caregiver. You motivate, comfort, negotiate, support, guide, and maintain an overview even when things get turbulent. For the children, we desire a trusting and reliable relationship and appreciative cooperation with members of the family of origin. You ensure the conscientious implementation of child and client protection.
Requirements
You have a degree as a state-recognized educator or a university degree as a social pedagogue. Ideally, you have (initial) professional experience in pedagogical work with children and/or in a residential youth welfare setting. Teamwork and commitment characterize you as a person. You have the ability to work independently. You are able and willing to engage in relationships with children and adolescents and are capable of creative and constructive solutions when dealing with conflicts and behavioral issues. You have good self-reflection skills regarding your own behavior and are open to flexible working hours. Willingness to provide round-the-clock care including night standby is required. Your approach to closeness and distance with those in your care is professional.
