Caretaker / Janitor

The city administration of Viersen is looking for a Caretaker / Janitor (m/f/d) for the Department of School, Education and Sports in the City Library division starting 01.02.2027.

• Setup and dismantling of technical equipment necessary for events (e.g., setup and dismantling of sound and lighting technology in coordination with responsible city library staff).
• Preparation and equipping of event rooms with tables and chairs, as well as provision of beverages/crockery and corresponding dismantling after events.
• Minor maintenance work, e.g., repair of movable items, clearing of drain blockages, maintenance of windows and doors.
• Regular visual and functional checks within the scope of operator responsibility (e.g., safety lighting, smoke protection technology) and documentation of meter readings.
• Supervision and coordination of external craft businesses for repair, restoration, and maintenance work.
• Maintenance of indoor and outdoor facilities of the city library (including indoor plant care, care of plants in the reading café and on the roof terrace), sweeping and winter service.
• General tasks typically associated with building operation and use of premises for event purposes (e.g., locking services, rearrangement work, messenger and postal services).
• Monitoring of external cleaning and, if necessary, own cleaning outside the scope of the external company.
• Changes and extensions of the area of responsibility remain reserved.
