About this Apprenticeship
As part of thyssenkrupp's CERT, you help identify and investigate IT security incidents across the group. You operate and develop the Cyber Defense Center's infrastructure and applications. This permanent, full-time position in Essen offers hybrid working and a flexible start date.
What You'll Learn
- You are part of thyssenkrupp's CERT and support its mission to identify and investigate IT security incidents across the group.
- You operate the Cyber Defense Center's central IT infrastructure and applications and continuously develop them to meet internal and external requirements.
- You maintain a Kubernetes-based hyperconverged infrastructure consisting of a wide range of containerised applications, from microservices to application clusters.
- You also keep existing systems up to date and maintain them using Ansible playbooks, which you develop independently for new systems and applications.
- You configure systems using Security and Privacy by Design principles and develop automation and integrations using the Don't Repeat Yourself (DRY) and Keep It Simple, Stupid (KISS) principles.
- You integrate a wide range of software components within a consistent system environment, mainly built from Linux and open source components, that meets the needs of the group's varied IT environment.
- When needed, you carry out further analysis and research into alternative solutions, integration options and IT solution features, taking technical and non-technical requirements into account.
- You manage and maintain servers and networks in the Cyber Defense Center's laboratories and the data centre in Frankfurt, making adjustments, including physical changes such as cabling, when needed.
- You proactively keep up with relevant new technologies and continuously update your knowledge as technology advances.
Requirements
- You have completed a degree in Computer Science or comparable vocational training focused on systems integration or application development.
- You have several years of experience in IT operations using DevOps principles, along with knowledge of IT security and building highly automated systems.
- You have in-depth knowledge of networks, including switch and firewall configuration, IT infrastructure and Linux operating systems, as well as established tools and solutions such as Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, GitLab and HashiCorp Vault.
- You are comfortable working in IT infrastructure built around Linux and open source components and can easily work with Linux client and server systems.
- Ideally, you also hold industry-standard certifications such as Red Hat Certified Specialist in Ansible Automation or other Linux or DevOps certificates.
- You communicate fluently in German and English, both spoken and written.
