Metal Worker / Construction Mechanic Track Welding

VGF is looking for metal workers / construction mechanics for track welding and grinding of rails in tracks, switches and crossings. You can apply even without experience in track welding or a welding qualification: there is a structured induction plus the training and certifications required for track maintenance.

• You carry out all recognized track welding and grinding methods to join and repair rails in tracks, switches and crossings
• This includes in particular build-up welding of grooved rails using manual arc and submerged arc welding, welding and grinding rework of switch components, and grinding to remove running surface defects and restore the target profile
• You also carry out aluminothermic rail joint welds and rail joints using manual arc welding
• You document the work carried out and the results achieved
• Flame straightening of spring-movable switch parts, bending rails on a rail bending machine and driving two-way workshop vehicles are also part of your tasks

• You have successfully completed training as a metal worker, construction mechanic, industrial mechanic or comparable training in a metalworking trade
• You have practical welding experience
• You have a class B driving licence, class C would be an advantage
• You work responsibly, reliably and enjoy teamwork
• You are willing to work shifts, be on call and keep training continuously
