Commercial Insurance Underwriter

As a commercial insurance underwriter at Debeka, you take on an important role within a team of seven in the risk assessment of companies and properties. Besides risk review, you support field staff with customer advice and quotes and ensure profit-oriented contract maintenance. The position is initially fixed for two years.

• Demanding cross-line handling of own commercial lines: liability, building, contents, electronics, machinery and legal expenses insurance
• Support of the cooperation business with our partners
• Qualified technical support for field sales, corporate experts and our decentralized commercial insurance specialists
• Assessment of individual risk (fire protection, security technology, industry risks, environmental and product liability risks etc.) as well as the PML
• Individual pricing of risks and review of discounts
• Application review and risk assessment for new business and contract extensions
• Profit-oriented portfolio maintenance (profitability reviews, negotiations with customers, individual contract adjustments)
• Correspondence and calls on individual inquiries from prospects, members, brokers, competitors as well as support of major customers
• Help shape the further and new development of commercial products

• Completed training as an insurance and finance clerk or a similar industry training
• Preferably expertise in at least one of the lines liability, property or technical insurance
• Organizational skills combined with an independent and self-responsible way of working
• Strong communication skills and teamwork
• Resilient, flexible and open to new topics and solutions
• Good spoken and written expression
