Dual Study Program B. Eng., Electrical Engineering Gelsenkirchen 2027

As part of your 4-year integrated dual study program (starting 01.09.2027), you will complete your vocational training as an electronics technician for operating technology at our training center with the skilled worker examination before the IHK NordWestfalen during the first two years, three days a week. Lectures at the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences at the Gelsenkirchen campus will accompany you during this phase two days a week. In the second half of your dual study program, you will study full-time and apply your knowledge in our departments during lecture-free periods. During your vocational training as an electronics technician for operating technology (f/m/d), you will install and configure various systems, machines, and individual components such as switches, sensors, and actuators. You will also gain insights into complex electrical systems of measurement, control, and regulation technology as well as communication, signaling, and drive technology. Your tasks include assembly and maintenance work as well as troubleshooting system failures, which involves testing individual system components, connections, and lines. You will also learn how to wire installation circuits and be introduced to work planning, preparation, and documentation. In the process, you will also learn the relevant business processes and company-specific tasks related to energy technology/energy transition and actively support us in the development towards a green energy future. The study program at the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences is divided into a part-time and a full-time study phase. In the first two years of the part-time study phase, you will deal with mathematics for engineers, physics, fundamentals of electrical engineering, as well as materials and components. In the full-time study phase, you can then choose between the specializations Automation and Intelligent Systems, Microelectronics and Technical Computer Science, or Energy Technology and Renewable Energies. Alternatively, the fourth specialization "General Electrical Engineering" allows a basic education with individual specialization by combining corresponding elective modules. Your dual study program concludes with a bachelor's thesis that you will complete in our departments. You will finish the training after 4 years with a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree. The dual study program and examinations are conducted exclusively in German.
