Civil Engineers for Planning and Construction Management on the Theodor-Heuss Bridge Major Project

The City of Düsseldorf is looking for two civil engineers (one position in planning, one in construction management) in the planning and construction management of engineering structures for the major project of replacing the Theodor-Heuss Bridge. As a project manager, you will work independently and on your own responsibility in a dynamic team of rising talents and experienced experts. Pay grade: BesGr A 13 or EG 13 TVöD.

• Responsible for planning engineering structures, especially the Theodor-Heuss Bridge, and handling or supporting topics such as structural and object planning, planning of traffic facilities, ground conditions, noise protection (planning area)
• Responsible for construction management of engineering structures, especially the Theodor-Heuss Bridge, and overall supervision of the different trades (construction management area)
• Support and handle financing and permit procedures (applications, coordination with the funding authority and planning approval authority and similar)
• Help carry out public engagement formats and prepare the necessary decisions in the political bodies
• Coordinate with the involved departments of the office, other offices of the City of Düsseldorf, other authorities and institutions, and third parties
• Initiate tenders and awards, supervise the handling of planning and construction services as well as engineering and consulting services, and coordinate the contractors involved

• Master of Science or Engineering in Civil Engineering, specialization in Structural Engineering, or a comparable degree, or civil servants who meet the entry requirements for career group 2, second entry level (2.2) of the technical construction service
• Civil servants of the higher technical construction service holding at least a position in pay grade A 11 LBesO who have permanently been assigned duties of at least pay grade A 12 LBesO for one year; willingness to complete modular qualification for a position in career group 2.2
• Many years of knowledge of HOAI and VOB as well as procurement law, and experience in subsidy and permit law, or willingness to acquire it quickly
• Above-average commitment, resilience and sense of responsibility
• Negotiation skills when dealing with project participants and communication skills towards citizens
• Ability to work independently, reliable and flexible, very good spoken and written expression (German at C1 level)
• Unrestricted driving licence class 3 or EU category B
