Social Worker / Social Pedagogue for Case Management for Unaccompanied Foreign Minors

The City of Düsseldorf's Office for Social Affairs and Youth is seeking a professional to manage cases involving unaccompanied foreign minors. This varied role carries responsibility within a multidisciplinary social services and child protection team and is available full-time or part-time.

• Advise unaccompanied foreign minors seeking help and members of the public
• Approve youth welfare support under Book VIII of the Social Code (SGB VIII)
• Develop and arrange support tailored to each person's needs
• Manage, take responsibility for and document the support planning process as part of casework
• Carry out the state's duty to protect children's welfare
• Conduct professional age assessments.

• Bachelor of Arts in Social Work/Social Pedagogy with state recognition, or a state-recognised diploma in social work/social pedagogy, or a state-recognised educational scientist with at least two years of relevant professional experience matching the advertised requirements
• Knowledge of relevant laws, particularly Book VIII of the Social Code (SGB VIII), the German Civil Code (BGB) and the Child and Youth Strengthening Act (KJSG). Basic computer skills or willingness to learn them
• Strong personal and social skills, with a high level of teamwork and cooperation
• Willingness to take responsibility, strong conflict resolution skills and the ability to cope well with emotional pressure
• An independent, structured approach to work and good time management
• Good communication and expression skills, and the ability to provide advice focused on finding solutions.
