Product Owner, Data Fusion Platform

BWI develops and operates IT solutions for the German Armed Forces. Within the GeoInfo, Analytics & Simulation unit, the Product Owner manages solutions for collecting and analysing data from public sources throughout their lifecycle.

• As Product Owner for the Data Fusion Platform, take functional responsibility for one or more IT solutions for collecting and analysing data from public sources, known as open source intelligence
• Manage these IT solutions from the initial idea through functional and technical planning, including market analysis, detailed design, implementation, operation and further development, through to eventual retirement
• Maintain close, ongoing contact with German Armed Forces counterparts, understand their strategic and operational requirements, priorities and constraints, and structure, assess and prioritise them for implementation at BWI
• Provide strategic direction for a team of project managers, IT architects, business analysts and other specialists working closely together to deliver complex projects

• Completed degree in Business Informatics, Computer Science or a comparable qualification
• Extensive experience in responsible roles, such as product owner, project manager or architect, within complex IT projects
• Extensive expertise in common traditional and agile project management methods, demonstrated through project management certifications such as IPMA, PMI, SCRUM or SAFe
• Very good knowledge of analytics and data science
• Good technical IT knowledge of cloud computing and virtualisation, databases or applications, ideally also infrastructure, platforms, networks, operating systems and IT security
• Experience working with the German Armed Forces, public authorities or global industrial companies is desirable, particularly with architectures that comply with German classified information rules or staff and administrative work
• A strong sense of responsibility, independence and focus on goals. A customer and service focus, as well as project and team-based working, are essential
• Willingness to work regularly on site at the BWI office in Bonn and attend meetings with the German Armed Forces
