Senior Data Architect - Data Fusion Platform

As the Bundeswehr's primary digitalisation partner, BWI provides stable, secure and efficient IT services. In the Customer Solution Unit "Geo Info, Analytics & Simulation" (GIAS), it provides the IT needed to capture, georeference, analyse, combine and use data. As Senior Data Architect, you are responsible for designing and implementing a modern data and interface architecture for an IT solution that collects and analyses data from public sources ("Open Source Intelligence").

• Responsibility for designing and implementing a modern data and interface architecture for an IT solution for collecting and analysing data from public sources ("Open Source Intelligence")
• Design and optimisation of data models, data flows and data integration processes of the IT solution
• Ensuring data quality, security and governance in line with internal and regulatory requirements
• Creating architecture documentation, guidelines and standards for the data landscape
• Working with specialist architects from different BWI services, data engineers and data scientists to build a scalable data and analytics solution
• Presenting complex technical matters appropriately for each level within the Bundeswehr and BWI

• Completed degree in business informatics, computer science or a comparable qualification
• At least 5 years of professional experience in data architecture, ideally within complex, strategic IT projects
• In-depth knowledge of database design (SQL/NoSQL), modern data architectures (DWH, Data Lake, Lakehouse) and ETL/ELT processes
• Practical experience in data modelling (e.g. dimensional, relational, graph-based) and metadata management
• Expertise in common methods of classic and modern IT architecture management. Proof through certifications in IT architecture frameworks, e.g. TOGAF or CPSA, and tools, e.g. Enterprise Architect, Visio, draw.io, is desirable
• Good facilitation and steering skills when working with other BWI teams
• Enjoyment of regular on-site work in our BWI office in Bonn and at meetings with our customer, the Bundeswehr
